GEnie’s Multimedia LiveWire for Macintosh -- December • 1994
YOU MUST HAVE
Requires a minimum of 68020 processor; System 6.0.7 or higher; 4-bit color monitor with at least 640x400 resolution (works on PowerBooks); HyperCard 2.0 or the HyperCard Player 2.1 or greater; 3mb RAM allocated to HyperCard (you can use 2 to 2.5mb RAM but the MODs will not play.) A HyperCard player is also available FREE in the LiveWire Library if you don't have a compatible version of HyperCard.
CHANGES
The CyberNotes (aka sidebars) are accessed by clicking on the buttons on the appropriate pages. CyberNotes are now displayed in floating windoids which are fully scrollable and resizable. You close the CyberNotes now just like any normal Mac window or keep them all open if you want. <g>
LiveWire HyperCard now incorporates the MOD files directly into the resource fork with PlayMOD 2.0.2. Those files will no longer appear loose in the folder.
HELP WITH THE PROGRAM
To navigate to the articles in this month's issue, click on the article title on the Contents page.
All the regular HyperCard commands are available. The menubar is hidden but can be revealed by typing command + spacebar. In the HyperCard spirit of sharing, the stack is unprotected and its scripts may be examined.
Five tunes may be played by clicking on the Snowflake on the Contents page. A dialog box will allow you to choose which tune to play. You can also silence any tune through this dialog box. These MODs may be played while you read without slowing down the system.
You can EXIT (Quit) LiveWire by typing command+Q or by clicking on the button that reads "Exit".
To make scrolling through the stories faster, click on the inside of the scrollbar. Clicking near the down arrow will scroll the story one full page in that direction; clicking near the up arrow will scroll it back. Anytime a line is only half showing at the bottom, it will be repeated with the next "page down" command.
The left and right arrows to the sides of the ARTICLE icon will take you to the previous and next articles respectively.
Clicking on the Article icon will return the current article to the beginning.
